this is the czerny piece i played.

cznery i played well but the glasgow love theme...when i was playing i was like...okay good im not nervous...shit wrong note!! shit another wrong note!! lol..but the wrong note was the left hand, not the main chord on the right hand so i guess many didnt notice it.

then i went back to my seat. and suddenly at the same time, at least 15 people turn around to look at me lool funny

Omurice

I made omurice a couple of weeks ago.
I had some at Takashimaya in Singapore and was craving more ever since I got back to ATL. I first learnt of Omurice (Omelette Rice) from the jap drama, "Lunch Queen". The actress made is look soooooooo yummy, I had to try it! And was pleasantly surprised to find it in Taka.

I added japanese curry sauce over my omurice. The recipe called for more tomato sauce drizzled on top, but I thought that would an tomato sauce overdose for me.

today I joined a guitar hero competition at rocco's pub that was actually to fundraise for breast cancer research. So I thought... Win win right? If I win I get a cash prize and will probably donate a portion of that back to the charity. If I lose, at least the $30 entry fee goes to charity( plus a t shirt worth they were selling for $15). For the first round, it was based on percentage of the song rather than points. The audience was awesome... Even though I didn't know anyone there, pol were still cheering on for me. When I was playing, the dj went "alright 100 streak!" "woooo!!". "200 streak!" "woooo!!" "300 streak!""wooooo!!"and I was like grinning n loving it heh heh heh..... I managed to get a score of 99% and 619 streak :D quite an achievement, don't think I've had such a long streak before.

The organizer who was this bald black dude called ran was like continuously saying " I hate u!! " in a funny jealous way LOL , cracked me up.
After that I think most of the ppl there knew my name lol. And the ppl who were supposed to play against me was kinda scared :p. B4 the competition begin I was practising a song n I felt a presence very close to me. It turns out that it was a lil cute ang moh boy standing reaally close to me near my knees watching my fingers . He said excitedly " you're goooood!!'". Tres adorable man !

Even though I won every round until final 2.. I lost the last one :( the song was through the fire n the flames battle mode. Woah that song was hard... I didn't think me or the guy had the skills to finish the song but we did... It was intense. So we went on to sudden death mode.

I thought I had it made cos I got two powerups to use so I can activate the sudden death first. But I had an insensitive guitar controller n I concentrated too much on activating the powerup that I forgot to make sure I got the combo to get the death draining thing . Sian . So he sudden death me first... N once u do that, u know u're gonna lose le. Sian ... My hundred bucks ...:( first time in my life I actually feel bad about losing . But at least they still gave me a gift certificate for 2 dinners n 2 cocktails @ rocco's pub for being 2nd. Not bad la, had fun.

Hope emory has a guitar hero competition this school semester. Cos I'm gonna kick every1's ass n win the prize!! Hopefully cash

Mind invasion : songs

gosh..why do songs keep getting stuck in my head. its both a gift and curse i guess. since if its stuck in my head, i know exactly what note it should sound like to figure it out which alphabet it is on the piano. but, the curse. well u would have already experienced it. fragments of the song creeping into the consciousness of your mind at random moments of your day..again....and again...and again...uncontrollable...at times lovely...at times terribly annoying... X_X

I wrote "write a song" as one of the things I want to accomplish this summer holiday.
Unfortunately, I usually write songs when I'm in love/puppy dog love/unrequited love.
so now? hmm im not in one of those. and like ive mentioned before, when I have those feelings, most of the time, i hate it. because with those warm lovey dovey feelings, come those dark, despairing, lonely, foolish feelings which are downright awful. But when I those have those feelings, like right now, i long to have those warm yummy feelings, even if it meant the latter. bleagh. plus, not feeling anything for anyone is...rather bland.

i want to try to write a song, not about love if possible. but what about? I have no clue. Depression? Alcohol abuse? Sexuality? i think its easiest to write about something you have experience in, but i dont have any experience whatsoever in these topics. hmmm...*ponder*...yea still no clue what else is there. I guess I have the whole summer to think about it.

If there is anyone reading (probably not) drop a comment to tell me what is the latest song that has stuck in your head. :)

Random thought of the day: Humor

Funny people, especially comedians, draw inspiration from insignificant details we experience in our daily lives, like handling toilet trips etc
The trick is to use that material and convert it into something funny. One way to do this is by thinking ahead, giving your audience a mental picture of that same incident, and placing it in a totally different context which makes its obviously funny.

For example, today in Finance class, my teacher was talking about the “ask a librarian” standup, a life size poster of a librarian in my school that is able to stand on “her” own. Every time I come close to it, and see it within my peripheral vision, I get freaked out, because it feels like there’s this scary woman watching you wherever you go. And I guess a lot of people feel that way too, including my teacher. So he said, “imagine having that her placed inside a toilet cubicle” as part of the joke. And he also said “everyone would know her as the scary lady stalking us” or something. Because the toilet cubicle is somewhere one would never expect to see it, one can only imagine how freaked out one would be. So in that way, the joke’s hilarious. But by analyzing it, like what I’m doing now, it might not end up as funny for you. Who knows.

Too bad I couldnt find the picture of the standup, but this is the scary lady. No offense to her.

Oh I just researched the types of humor, and apparently what I just said is known as Situational humor. Brilliant.

Situational Humor: this is comedy that comes from your own life. No one in your audience will have heard it and it can get a group used to you. This type of humor is based on a humorous situation that you have experienced.

I think a lot of jokes also involve you thinking a few steps ahead, and them not revealing what the last step is, but you know for sure what it is, and through that “discretion” you feel great about yourself, realizing you can catch what they are saying without them actually saying it, possibly making the joke funnier.

What makes a joke good does not only consist of the content. Your facial expression, mannerisms and other actions are just as crucial. If you say something funny with a blank facial expression/straight face, it can make people laugh, but either your audience has to be very easy or the content must be VERY VERY GOOD. Even if you content is not that great, you can still pull it off with the right “visual enhancement”.

Okay, I’ve babbled too much. I’ll stop now.

I think the term "makes sense" is very tricky. Even though something "makes perfect sense" to you, it might not be true. But people tend to forget this, and assume it because they do not have any other alternatives to choose from, and is unable or difficult to get the accurate information.

The waiters were cool there. they had to carry like 40cm in diameter trays that are full of dishes, by like ...pretend to stretch your entire hand up. that high! this guy kept smiling and watching me try to take pictures of other waiters doing it and then he said,"want to take a picture of me?" and he posed lol.

I went to Miami/Key west for the 1 week spring break. It was quite fun and the first time I didnt puke going there n back, and the whoooooole trip. sweeeeeeeet. the ocean water is super blue...and clear too...very coooool...but too bad i had my period and it was still wicked cold even though its nice and sunny outside. i planned to jet ski, kayak, go parasailing, boating, read and listen to music at the beach, and shop. but didnt get to do any of these. instead, spent like USD$40-60 per person in these 2 expensive restaurants. and the only thing i used my money to pay for , during the whole trip, was Photo hunt lol. You know the game at one of those kiosks where u have to spot the differences between two photos? Yeah we spent bout 10bucks in total with my sis' money, mine, and parents. lol.

gosh we ate so much, that i decided that i shall give up chocolate and candy for lent (4odays), which ends on April 16th if im not wrong. i cant eat chocolate like twix, cadbury, lindt. i wasnt sure if i want to avoid all kinds of chocolate, like chocolate cake, whatever desserts with chocolate in it or what, but looking at the huge delicious chocolate cake during today's dinner, i decided. heh. you guessed it. The cake is yummy in my tummy now as we speak.

So at the demand of Faith, here r the photos. although i discovered i dont really know how to pose, so i look pretty crappy and awkward in all, but my sis looks great no matter what pose.
but anyways...

This was at the Doubletree hotel we stayed in, with access to the beach at the back.

I dressed up for Halloween the whole day for classes today as a gangsta/hip hop rapper
Supposed to wear a vampire mask too, so I would be a vampire rapper but the mask kinda hurt my upper lip area so I was afraid to wear for a long period of time

3rd victim was Lyly and Shikha--> haha that was really funny..they said "come in" so i pranced into the room.. Shikha was lying on the bed and her top half of her body jerked alot suddenly and screamed..Lyly also had a scared face wahhaah definitely in top 3 too

4th victim was Georgianna --> We wanted to go to georgianna's room to scare her but Elsy saw her come out of her room and go to another person's room so we didnt know what to do..conveniently i was like behind the door in elsy/elvi's room and holding the door..and i heard someone coming to the door and said "do you guys want some candy?" Elvi gave me some kind of eye signal so I came out jumped and "Blweaherggh"! haha it was Georgianna after all and she freaked too

5th victim was Linnea --> She was standing outside the room opposite mine. I was walking towards her without mask, holding it in my hand, and said hi, then i realised it was a really good opportunity to scare her so conveniently i slid in to the microwave corner on the left and put on the mask, came out and scared her. haha she freeeeeaked too lol soso funny

Tis was fun, I fostered good relations with Dad's colleagues(Cheryl(customer relations), Tanya(accountant/controller), Thomas(Marketing), Dick(Sales)). When I first started, I was kinda nervous like talking to them and hearing them explain what our next task was and how to do it. But then, it became less and less and eventually faded. I made them laugh constantly by just being myself ;p. My sister and I worked together and that made it easier too but we still had our share of work-related quarrels throughout that 15 days.

I always thought work was going to be sooooo boring. 9-6pm, 8hours a day excluding lunch, day after day after day...ahh! In the beginning I was kinda dreading it, asking for the time practically every 2 hours or so sometimes after 10minutes even, but like the nervousness it became much easier then expected. Not long later, I was even going " So fast??" when my dad said it was time to go.

I now know the art of filing and why people hate it lol. There's even a "ihatefilingclub.com" printed on the box of new files for filing tips and stuff. XD.

when i came to US I made my cupcakes for some malaysian association chinese new year gathering, but it wass succkyy. dont know whawt i did different but it stank. so i tried making another batch but it stank to. i brought it anyways but was barely touched :(.

but i tried making it today and they were awesome! woooooohoo
my sis said tastes like the otis-spunkmeyer muffins hehe
those are like the super-est yummylicious chocolate muffins in the wooorld..
hehe so happy but i ddint feel like eating it lol.

:( My sister, her boyfriend and I went to All fired Up, a place where u can pick out unpainted pottery like cups, bowls, plates, tiles, piggy banks etc, to paint our own cups. Took like 10-12 hours within 3 days took finish it. Very tedious must make sure your hand is steady so you wont make any big ugly blobs on the cup. You also have to paint like 3 times over whatever picture you so that it will come out nice and solid. I workeed harrrd and really liked my cup but bout one week of having brought it back to my house....... :( My mum broke it. :( :( :( came back from work and she told me.. sigh. so sad, was so nice, spent so much time, my first painted cup, something practical i made that i could use... sighhhh
My mum was the first and last to use it man.. i didnt even get to use it.. aiya so sad..told my mum not to lay off my cups from now on :x haiya school starting in less than 3 weeks, till then working every weekday, 2 weekends i'll have driving school..dont really have time to make a new one..

but well the bright side is..i had practise so next time i make it, it will be perfect.

Garlic Shrimp Angel Hair Pasta with crabmeat and mushrooms

Recipe:

Garlic Shrimp Linguine

Cook Time: 20 Minutes Ready In: 30 Minutes
Yields: 8 servings(4)

"Impress your guests with this deceptively simple saute of butter, garlic, wine, Parmesan cheese and shrimp. Serve over hot linguine and garnish with chopped parsley."
INGREDIENTS:
1 pound uncooked linguine(1/2)
1 tablespoon butter(x4)
3 tablespoons white wine(x4)
2 teaspoons grated Parmesan(x4)
cheese 3 cloves garlic, minced(x4)
1 teaspoon chopped fresh(x4)
parsley
salt and pepper to taste
1 pound medium shrimp,(about 10-12 medium pieces)
peeled and deveined
(added crabmeat and mushrooms..um as much as you want)

DIRECTIONS:
1. Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Add pasta and cook for 8 to 10 minutes or until al dente (not always 8-10mins, depends on which pasta you are using:check package for cooking time); drain.
2. In a medium saucepan, melt butter over medium low heat; add wine, cheese, garlic, parsley and salt and pepper to taste. Simmer over low heat for 3 to 5 minutes, stirring frequently.
3. Increase heat to medium high and add (mushrooms, then shrimp, then crabmeat as shrimp is almost cooked) shrimp to skillet; cook for about 3 to 4 minutes or until shrimp begins to turn pink. Do not overcook.
4. Divide pasta into portions and spoon sauce on top; garnish with Parmesan cheese and fresh parsley, if desired.

This is the original recipe from allrecipes.com
But I used the amount in bracket.
If the wine taste is slightly too much, either try letting it simmer for a longer period of time or add a little milk.

my sister's boyfriend reynard has been over the past few weeks and will be in the ATl for the past few weeks..
its been fun with him hanging round!
havent laughed so hard and so much and so hard for the past 2weeks forrr a looong time..probably as long as ive been in the us...1yearr.which is kinda a bad sign heh
yay seems like everything around me seems funnier now unlike being mooodyy day to day..;p
we've been playing TABOO fuunnzz..battle of the sexes, jenga, just watching tv(he loves will and grace-->we think hes gay :O lol), gg to the mall, gg out fer food he hasnt eaten b4, gg to lakelinear for alooksee, checking out houses, ohoh we went to renaissance festival that was cool.~
just hanging around in da house is FUN enough tho, we can get soo high
we dont need no dope to get hi lalalala

still having summer school now..at main emory..taking intro to probability and stats and financial accounting..stats is easy but still takes bit of work, been getting full marks for 2 quizzes n a 96 on the first exam which i think is really good..but accounting...ugh so..so hard..and cheeeem..:( showed some of the stuff we do to someone who took financial accounting @ oxford..n he was like woah...man shoulda taken accoounting @ oxford instead..poo..but nevm i'll try to deal with this..teacher aint that great at explaining stuff..but oh well.. just 2 more weeks and its over..fast eh..18 week course crammed into 6weeks..intense..who said summer sch is easier eh *box u*

after summer school we're going to travel up north yay!

but not too hot bout the plane flight..:x

just finished with the beatles concert...
i was supposed to paly 5 songs originally..
norwegian wood..(clarinet) with 2guys n a teacher
let it be..(clarinet) with same 2 guys n teacher
when im sixty four..(clarinet) with Charlie..sophmore who has played guitar for 7yrs or somthng

a day in the life..(piano) with charlie

the whole concert was really informal..when ppl started arriving and stuff, they were still practicising..n lots of pple's stuff was on stage..a lil messy..think the informal atmosphere kinda helped me be less nervous tho..but was still nervous..
charlie..supposedly the president of the instrumental music society made the program but wasnt sure who was up next n stuff..he had to go on stage almost after every song and check the program and announced who was next..
while waiting, all of the performers just sat with the audience until it was our turn lol..

but the teacher didnt show up..
and my clarinet was in Bb key but one of the guys couldnt play in same key cos it was too hard or seomthing..so i offered to play the piano..
then i went to try it out..with the pedal throughout the song..
and the guy, Asa said it sounded dirty with too much pedal X_X ouch..
then he said this is what i do with the pedal and started playing..still lot of pedal tho..n he like palyed the whole song with a wicked solo..like hao lian blewagh
so in the end he played the song on piano with charlie and marlon playing guitar n drums..

so norwegian wood was good i guess.. no screw ups there..come to think of it when i told my mum, she asked then how come the guy could play this song if couldnt play the other...poo
iono maybe easier to play..

played when im sixty four..it was great till the last part when i was suppsoed to play the melody while charlie sang n played guitar..
so i squeaked lots...not once not twice but i dunno 10times lol..
its like do dooo squeak do o squeak squeak..
den i was like o crap n laffing abit n made my funny trademark face with tongue sticking out
n charlie was laffing bit but still playing.. n audience was laffing at me haa but i think one of my friends shouted go cheryl or osmething ha..
then after charlie screwed up too..like forgot where he was or osmething..n cant see the words i dunno lol..he ended off too early without my little solo at the end too lol..
man nothinng to do or think bout that but laugh...ha

was supposed to play hey jude next but he whispered to me on stage..he couldnt see or something? iono weirrd ..so didnt play it..man i thought that would be the best song..darn..teeny bit bummed for a while..

yea so played the last song n that was it..
total of maybe 20+ ppl showed up...just performer's friends i think
hmm first time i played piano for performance..clarinet by myself..
soo..not bad?lol
hope i wont get as nervous as i was for this n chorale next time..

finish exams n school semester on wednesday may10.
but have chorale performance on friday and sunday.. bit sian eh..
so will have to pack and bring stuff back on wednesday..come back on friday for the performance, go back at night for some Blue moon party at this Smokerise Golf Country club my family just gained membership to..

hope it wont be just old ppl..hopefully some hotties
